Following a post-publication editorial quality review, the Editorial Office identified several citation mismatches and reference-support issues in the above article. The authors reviewed the identified issues and provided corrections involving replacement of inappropriate references, removal of unsupported statements and citations, and consequent updating of the reference numbering throughout the manuscript. These corrections are limited to the supporting text and references and do not affect the experimental dataset, numerical results, tables, figures, statistical analyses, or the principal conclusions of the study.
Reference corrections
- Original Ref. [1] The reference was used in connection with a statement concerning patchouli callus emergence; however, the cited article investigated methyl jasmonate treatment and PatAACT gene expression in patchouli and did not support the stated 2,4-D/BAP callus-emergence information. The unsupported callus-emergence statement has therefore been removed. In addition, Ref. [1] has been replaced with a more appropriate source concerning Gynura pseudochina for the relevant introductory citation.
- Original Ref. [2] The reference was cited in support of a statement relating auxin/cytokinin balance to callus characteristics, including friable and compact callus types. However, the cited article focused on methyl jasmonate treatment and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) gene expression in Gynura pseudochina and did not support the stated callus-characteristic relationship. The unsupported statement and associated citation have been removed. Ref. [2] has also been replaced with a more appropriate source supporting the introductory description of the chemical composition and biological properties of Gynura pseudochina.
- Original Ref. [3] The reference was cited to support antioxidant activity of Gynura pseudochina; however, the cited article concerned the mast cell stabilization activity of Piper retrofractum and did not support the stated antioxidant property. The reference has been replaced with an appropriate source addressing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the genus Gynura.
- Original Ref. [5] The reference was cited to support the presence and biological role of vitamin K in Gynura pseudochina; however, the cited article was a general review of the role of medicinal plants in wound-healing technology and did not support this statement. The statement concerning vitamin K in Gynura pseudochina has therefore been removed together with the associated citation.
- Original Ref. [27] The reference concerning Talinum paniculatum was cited in relation to 2,4-D tissue diffusion and penetration mechanisms, although the source did not support this mechanistic statement. The unsupported wording concerning 2,4-D tissue diffusion and penetration has been removed, and the Talinum paniculatum reference has also been deleted. In addition, the citation to the study by Rashmi and Trivedi has been corrected to Ref. [25] following renumbering of the reference list.
- Reference numbering update Following the removal of unsupported references and statements and the replacement of inappropriate citations, all affected in-text citations and the reference list have been renumbered accordingly.
