Abstract
This Correction refers to: Al-Moussawi ZHK, Almahdawi MKK, Al-Bayati ASS, (2024). Impact of varying sorbitol concentrations on hematological and biochemical blood parameters in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). Advancements in Life Sciences, 11(4). https://doi.org/10.62940/als.v11i4.2220
Following an internal audit conducted after post‑publication quality concerns were raised, the Editorial Office has identified reference mismatches in the above article. The authors have confirmed the following corrections, none of which alter the experimental dataset, numerical results, tables, figures, statistical outcomes, or the principal conclusions of the study.
Reference corrections
- Ref. [2]: Replaced with new Ref. [2] (Zhang et al., 2020), below.
- Ref. [12]: The statement on sorbitol absorption, hepatic/muscular glycogen synthesis, and postprandial glucose spikes during pregnancy and lactation is now supported, alongside Ref. [11] (Yang et al.), by new Ref. [12] (Cardoso et al., 2016), below.
- Ref. [13]: The statement on intestinal malabsorption, colonic osmolality, and osmotic diarrhea following high‑dose sorbitol intake is now supported by new Ref. [13] (Hattori et al., 2021), below, in place of the original citation.
- Ref. [15]: The statement on sorbitol‑related metabolic disturbance in diabetic subjects is revised and now supported by new Ref. [15] (Schmidt et al., 2005), below.
- Refs. [16, 17]: The statement on sorbitol's role in osmotic cellular stress rather than as a pregnancy stimulant is revised and now supported by new Refs. [16] (de Mendonça et al., 2022) and [17] (Kobayashi et al., 2002), below.
- Ref. [18]: The statement on polyol‑pathway activation and its effect on renal glucose‑metabolite handling is now supported by new Ref. [18] (Iizuka, 2023), below.
- Ref. [28]: The statement on decreased plasma insulin and carbohydrate‑metabolism disturbances following high‑dose sorbitol is now supported by new Ref. [28] (Al‑Tamimi et al., 2021), below.
